Why should you code and be a programmer, you ask ??
Well to put it simply in Steve Jobs’s words, “it teaches you how to think”.
I’m a strong supporter of the notion that programming should be introduced as an elementary subject in schools so that the new generation kids are more problem solving and develop ways to think out of the box.
And to promote this very idea, Code.org has come with a very inspirational video. They term programming as a new “superpower” that isn’t being taught in most of the US schools. Well, I can’t say about the US, but most of the I.C.S.E schools here in India are definitely teaching Java to students from the 8th grade onwards. How do I know ? It’s because I studied in an I.C.S.E school and learnt my first ever programming language in it.
The video features Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, will.i.am, Chris Bosh, Jack Dorsey, Tony Hsieh, Drew Houston, Gabe Newell, Ruchi Sanghvi, Elena Silenok, Vanessa Hurst, and Hadi Partovi, where they talk about their first ever programs and what inspired them.
Go ahead watch the video, like it, share it, spread the word and share your first ever coding experience in the comments section below.
